Summary

As a Solution Architect you will be regarded as an VAST Data product expert and you will be involved in daily technical planning, review, and coordination across multiple Vast Data teams and customers, working towards the improved success and efficiency of the Professional Services team.

The Professional Services Solution Architect will be responsible:

• to provide technical guidance around installations and technical evaluations of installation plans,
• developing and testing solutions in strategically and tactically significant applications to improve Professional Services operations, and
• assure the success of product installations more broadly through coordination, planning, and execution.
• This includes, but is not limited to: filing bugs with engineering, creating project plans, analyzing utilization data, reviewing and correcting installation plans, automating workflows, and both writing and correcting existing documentation.

You will answer to (and work closely with) the Professional Services manager and work closely with an existing team of PS Engineers and Technical Engagement Managers. You will be heavily involved in providing guidance on pre-sales and technical sales activities and will work on escalated technical support issues to resolution, interfacing with the customer, support operations, sales engineers, and the development team.

Required skill and experience:

Seeking an experienced IT architect with 5+ years in customer-facing roles and 5+ years with hands-on specialized experience in data storage and/or IT infrastructure operations.

Must have experience in solution architecture, implementation, linux administration, troubleshooting, and support, with expertise in SAN/storage systems, extensive networking (IPv4/IPv6), virtualization, and container technologies.

Preferred qualifications include operational knowledge of databases, high-performance computing, data systems, large system performance analysis and optimization, and experience in startup environments. Must be willing to travel (25%) and possess exceptional communication skills (written and verbal) and be able to cover upfront travel expenses for 30-45 days (VAST’s expense reimbursement schedule).

The ideal candidate is someone who’s lived in datacenters and has a strong preference for the best isle to sleep in (hot or cold?); has a preferred linux/unix shell, editor, and scripting/programming language; has names for all the computers in their house; takes initiative identifying and resolving problems; and has a strongly adventurous, can-do attitude.
